Small and Medium Enterprises play a pivotal role in India's economic growth by contributing 17% to India's GDP, 45% to National Manufacturing Output and 40% to India's exports. They also employ around 70 million people in the country, which is 70% of India's working population. However a majority of SMEs fall under micro and small segments that lack access to skilled workforce. While National Manufacturing Policy envisions generating 100 million jobs by 2025, it is necessary for SMEs to have skilled employees in order to become efficient and productive; and to enable India grow at 10% -11%.
